How to Connect Directly to the ScanSnap (iX1300/iX100)

To connect a computer or mobile device to the ScanSnap directly, you need to configure settings for the Direct Connect mode.

When establishing a connection in Direct Connect mode, the factory default settings can be used. To check or change the settings, use the Wireless Setup Tool.

ATTENTION

For iX1600/iX1500, use the touch panel of the ScanSnap to establish a connection in Direct Connect mode.

In the Wireless Network Setup Wizard, when no wireless access point is registered, you can check connection for the Direct Connect mode.

When a wireless access point is registered, you can check connection for the Direct Connect mode from the menu of the Wireless Setup Tool.

Configure the Wireless Settings Using the Wireless Setup Tool

To connect a computer or mobile device to the ScanSnap directly, configure the following with the Wireless Setup Tool:

  • Wireless LAN setting

    Configure the wireless LAN information for the ScanSnap.

  • IP address setting

    Set an IP address for the ScanSnap.

  • Run WPS

    When the computer or mobile device supports WPS, wireless settings of the computer or mobile device are configured automatically by using WPS.

    Therefore, you can connect the computer or mobile device directly to the ScanSnap by one of the following:

    • Press the WPS button (Push-Button)

      Pressing the WPS button on the computer or mobile device will complete the wireless network setup automatically and connect the computer or mobile device directly to the ScanSnap.

    • Enter the PIN (PIN)

      Entering the PIN of the computer or mobile device in the setup window for the Direct Connect mode will complete the wireless network setup automatically and connect the computer or mobile device directly to the ScanSnap.

    To check whether or not WPS is supported by the computer or mobile device, refer to the manual of the computer or mobile device.

  • When the wireless mode is set to [Auto mode], if a wireless access point is available for the ScanSnap, a connection is established in Access Point Connect mode.

    If a wireless access point is not available for the ScanSnap, a connection is established in Direct Connect mode.

    When the Direct Connect mode is entered, the Wi-Fi indicator of the ScanSnap is lit in orange and waits for connection to be established. After connection is established, the Wi-Fi indicator is lit in green.

  • When the wireless mode is fixed to [Direct Connect mode], the Direct Connect mode is always used for connection regardless of the wireless access point settings or status.
