Document jam

When a document jam occurs, "J" and "1" will display alternately on the function number display panel of the scanner.

Please perform the following:

1. Remove all documents from the ADF paper chute.
2. Open the ADF while pressing the ADF open button.
3. Remove the jammed papers from the ADF.
4. Close the ADF pushing the center part of the ADF carefully.

If document jams occur frequently, please confirm the following and perform the necessary steps.

 

 

Are the paper quality and properties requirements satisfied?	No	Please confirm the "Document Quality".
Yes

Did you fan the document before setting it on the ADF?	No	Please fan the document by referring to "How to fan documents".
Yes

Is there any dirt or dust inside the ADF?	Yes	Please clean the ADF or eliminate the dirt from the ADF.
No

Are the Pick Rollers dirty?	Yes	Please clean the Pick Rollers.
No

Are the Pick Rollers installed properly?	No	Please install the Pick Rollers properly.
Yes

Are the Pick Rollers worn out?	Yes	Please replace the Pick Rollers.
No

Is the Brake Roller dirty?	Yes	Please clean the Brake Roller.
No

Is the Brake Roller installed properly?	No	Please install again the Brake Roller properly.
Yes

Is the Brake Roller worn out?	Yes	Please replace the Brake Roller.
No
