The ScanSnap You Want to Connect Is Not Found during Setup

When the ScanSnap you want to use does not appear on the list of available ScanSnap units, check the following:

Does the ScanSnap you want to connect support ScanSnap Home?

ScanSnap Home is supported by the following models:

  • ScanSnap iX1600

  • ScanSnap iX1600 Receipt Edition

  • ScanSnap iX1500

  • ScanSnap iX1300

  • ScanSnap iX100

Check the ScanSnap model that you want to connect.

Is the Wi-Fi switch of the ScanSnap turned off?

Turn on the Wi-Fi switch of the ScanSnap.

Are the ScanSnap and the mobile device connected to the same wireless access point?

To connect the ScanSnap and a mobile device, connect the ScanSnap and the mobile device to the same wireless access point.

If the Wi-Fi indicator is lit in blue, the ScanSnap may be connected to a different wireless access point from that of the mobile device.

To change the wireless access point that the computer is connected to, refer to the You Want to Change the Wireless Access Point..

Is the password for the wireless access point correct?

Check what the correct password is.

A password is referred to as an encryption key or a cryptography key depending on the wireless access point that is in use. Usually, the network name (SSID) and the password are on the side or the bottom of a wireless access point device.

For details about the value to be entered, refer to your wireless access point manual.

If you do not know the password for the wireless access point, contact your network administrator.

Has the number of units connected to the wireless access point exceeded the upper limit?

Disconnect other devices connected to the wireless access point.

The upper limit of the number of units that can be connected varies depending on the wireless access point that is in use.

Is the privacy separator function of the wireless access point enabled?

Disable the privacy separator function.

Depending on the wireless access point such as a mobile router, the privacy separator function of the wireless access point may be enabled.

Did you switch the ScanSnap Home screen to another screen while the ScanSnap is being connected?

Do not switch the ScanSnap Home screen to another screen while the ScanSnap is being connected.

Is the ScanSnap used by other devices?

Connect the ScanSnap to the network after you finish using the ScanSnap with other devices.

Is [Stable Wi-Fi scanning] or [Avoid poor connections] enabled in the Wi-Fi advanced settings for the mobile device? (Android)

Disable [Stable Wi-Fi scanning] or [Avoid poor connections] in the Wi-Fi advanced settings for the mobile device, and try again.

Are the ScanSnap and wireless access point distant from each other? Also, is there anything that may block the signal (such as walls and metal boards), or an electromagnetic source?

The signal between the wireless access point and the ScanSnap is weak, or there may be some signal interference.

On the touch panel of the ScanSnap, check the signal status with the icon that is displayed at the top of the home screen.

From Hamburger Menu in ScanSnap Home, tap [Scanner] to display the [Scanner] screen. Check the signal status in [Signal strength] in the Scanner information screen, which is displayed by tapping the scanner name at the top of the [Scanner] screen.

If the signal status is not fine, move the ScanSnap and the wireless access point to different locations.

  • Move the ScanSnap closer to the wireless access point.

  • Move the ScanSnap and the wireless access point away from the following items:

    • Obstacles that may block the signal (for example, walls and metal boards)
    • Devices that may cause signal interference (for example, microwaves and cordless phones) and wireless devices
  • Change the direction of the ScanSnap.

HINT
  • Even if the signal status is fine, communication within the range of a certain frequency or in certain wireless channels may become unstable due to signal interference such as noise.

    When you are in a region where 5 GHz Wi-Fi is available, do not select [Automatic] for the frequency in order to connect the ScanSnap. Select [2.4GHz] or [5GHz] depending on where you use the ScanSnap.
