Backing Up/Restoring Original Images in a PDF Format (Windows)
When you use the following functions to edit and save images in content data records that are managed in ScanSnap Home, the original images (images before being edited) can be backed up automatically. Only images in a PDF format can be backed up.
Function for converting images into searchable PDF files
Function for editing in the ScanSnap Home viewer window.
Restoring backed up images restores the edited images to their original state.
Setting an option to back up images automatically
Set whether to automatically back up original images when saving edited images in a PDF format.
Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.
For details, refer to To Display the Main Window.
Select [Settings] in the menu → [Preferences] to display the preferences window.
Set an option to automatically back up original images in the [Backup] tab.
[Save PDF temp files when overwriting] checkbox
Select this checkbox to automatically back up original images when saving edited images in a PDF format.
Backup size
Specify the total file size of images to be backed up.
ATTENTIONIf the file size of the images exceeds the specified limit, the original images may not be backed up automatically.
HINTThe destination for saving backed up images is set as follows:
DriveName such as "C":\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\PFU\ScanSnap Home\PDFBackup
The backed up images are saved in a subfolder under the above destination folder.
Subfolder name: PDFBackupyyyyMMddHHmmssSSS
The drive requires two times the free space of the limit specified for [Backup size] or more to back up images.
When the total file size of backed up images in the subfolder exceeds the limit specified for [Backup size], a new subfolder will be created. When a new subfolder is created, the subfolder created prior to the one before will be deleted.
Click the [OK] button to close the preferences window.
Restoring edited images to their original state
Restore the backed up images and replace the edited images with the original images to restore the edited images to their original state.
Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.
For details, refer to To Display the Main Window.
Select the content data record for which you want to restore original images in the Content Data Record List View, then click
in [Save destination] under [Basic information] in the Content Data Record View to display the folder where images are saved.
Check the name and modified date of the PDF file that is selected, and then take a note of them so as not to forget them.
In the content data record list view, change the title of the content data record for which you want to restore original images.

Select [Settings] in the menu → [Preferences] to display the preferences window.
Click the [Open Save Folder] button in the [Backup] tab to display the folder where backed up images are saved.
Close the preferences window.
Click the [OK] button in the preferences window.
Open the subfolder in the destination folder displayed in step 5, select the PDF file of backed up images, then create a copy.
The original images are backed up with the following file name:
<FileName noted in step 2>_<Date modified>.pd~
Delete the date from the name of the copied PDF file and change the file extension to "pdf".
Drag and drop the PDF file with the changed file name and file extension onto the folder list view or content data record list view in the main window of ScanSnap Home to import it into ScanSnap Home.
Check that the imported PDF file is displayed as a content data record in the content data record list view.
Delete the content data record whose title was changed in step 3.
