Making Files Manageable with ScanSnap Home

This section explains how to import a file into ScanSnap Home and how to assign a local folder or a network folder as a folder to be managed in ScanSnap Home.

To make a file manageable with ScanSnap Home, the following methods are available.

Importing a file by performing a scan

Scan a document with the ScanSnap and import the content data record created from the document that you scanned, to ScanSnap Home. Depending on the document type, the import unit of the content data record varies.

Assigning a folder

Assign a local folder or a network folder as a folder to be managed in ScanSnap Home.

Importing a file by dragging and dropping it

Drag and drop a file which is not managed in ScanSnap Home, into the folder list view or the Content Data Record List View on the Main Window so that the file is imported as a content data record of which the document type is [Documents].

Each imported file is managed as a single content data record.

Import target

Only files can be imported in ScanSnap Home. Multiple files can be selected and imported together in ScanSnap Home. The selected files are imported as copies so that the files in the original folders do not get deleted.

Import destination

Files can be dropped in the following folders under the [PC] folder in the folder list view of the main window.

  • [ScanSnap Home] folder

  • A folder which is assigned to be managed in ScanSnap Home

Files can be dropped in the following folders under the [Mac] folder in the folder list view of the main window.

  • [ScanSnap Home] folder

  • A folder which is assigned to be managed in ScanSnap Home

 

HINT
  • A scanned image can be extracted from a content data record and put in a folder that is not managed in ScanSnap Home as a PDF file or a JPEG file. Select the scanned image that you want to extract from the content data record list view and drag and drop it onto the folder that you want. You can also save a scanned image by specifying a folder to save it in beforehand.

Importing a file by migrating the existing software application

Files for the following existing software application can be migrated and imported in ScanSnap Home.

  • ScanSnap Organizer

  • CardMinder

  • ScanSnap Receipt
