Replacing the Pick Roller

Replace the pick roller in the following procedure:

ATTENTION
There are two types of pick rollers. When replacing pick rollers, make sure to replace both types at the same time.

  1. Turn off the scanner and wait for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Unplug the power cable.
  3. Remove all documents from the ADF paper chute (feeder).
  4. Pull up the ADF release tab to open the ADF.
    When the imprinter is installed, open the print section of the imprinter first, then the ADF.

    When the ADF is open, it might close accidentally. Be careful not to get your fingers caught.

  5. Open the sheet guide.
    Slide the side guides all the way while pushing the side guide button, and pull the sheet guide open from the dip.

  6. Remove the pick roller closer to you.
    1. Rotate the bushing (× 2) on the shaft in the direction of the arrow.

    2. Slide the bushing (× 2) on the shaft in the direction of the arrow.

    3. Remove the pick roller.

  7. Remove the pick roller away from you.
    1. Rotate the bushing on the shaft in the direction of the arrow.

    2. Slightly lift the bushing on the shaft in the direction of the arrow ① (about 5 mm) first. Pull the shaft end of the pick roller out of the slot in the direction of the arrow ② and then lift the pick roller in the direction of the arrow ③ .

      ATTENTION
      Be careful not to touch the gear near the bushing on the shaft because it has grease over it.

  8. Remove the pick rollers (× 2) one by one from the shaft.
    1. Pull out the pick roller from the shaft as you lift the retaining clip.

    2. Pull out the other pick roller from the shaft as you lift the retaining clip.

  9. Attach new pick rollers (× 2) on the shaft one by one.
    1. Hold the bushing of the shaft in one hand and the pick roller with the retaining clip facing towards you in the other hand, and then put the pick roller on the shaft in the direction of the arrow ①. If you rotate the pick roller in the direction of the arrow ②, you can put it on the shaft more easily.

    2. Hold the bushing of the shaft in one hand and the other pick roller with the retaining clip facing towards you in the other hand, and then put the pick roller on the shaft in the direction of the arrow ①. If you rotate the pick roller in the direction of the arrow ②, you can put it on the shaft more easily.

    ATTENTION
    Confirm that the pick rollers are attached properly. Otherwise, it may cause feeding errors such as paper jams.
    Make sure you insert the pick rollers until they lock in place.

  10. Attach the pick roller on the side that is away from you.
    1. Insert the left end of the shaft into the slot at an angle, and the rest of the shaft gradually as you lower the other end.

    2. Rotate the bushing on the shaft in the direction of the arrow.

  11. Attach the pick roller on the side that is close to you.
    1. Insert the protrusion (× 2) on the scanner into the hole (× 2) on the pick roller.

    2. Slide the bushing on the left shaft in the direction of the arrow.

    3. Fit the protrusion on the right shaft into the notch on the pick roller and slide the bushing on the shaft in the direction of the arrow.

    4. Rotate the bushing (× 2) on the shaft in the direction of the arrow.

  12. Close the sheet guide.
    Make sure that both ends of the sheet guide are locked firmly.

    ATTENTION
    Confirm that the pick rollers are installed properly. Otherwise, it may cause feeding errors such as paper jams.

  13. Close the ADF.
    Make sure that you press the area in the middle of the ADF until it locks in place.
    When the imprinter is installed, close the ADF first, then the print section of the imprinter.

    Be careful not to have your fingers caught when closing the ADF.

  14. Plug in the power cable and turn on the scanner.
  15. Reset the pick roller counter.
