Introduction of FUJITSU Image Scanner fi-Series.

Introducing the Compact fi-4120C2 and fi-4220C2 A4 Color Duplex Scanners

-- The World's First Scanners Capable of Scanning Cards at Speeds Exceeding 50IPM --

 The fi-4120C2 (ADF-only model)
The fi-4220C2 (ADF & Flatbed Model)

On September 2, 2004, PFU Ltd. (President: Yuji Hirose, Tokyo Head Office: Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture) announced the launching of the compact fi-4120C2 and fi-4220C2 duplex A4 document scanners, the most recent additions to the Fujitsu fi-series (*1) line-up. Both of these document scanners offer improved automatic document feeder (ADF) performance and scanning input performance over that of their fi-4120C and fi-4220C predecessors.

PFU continues its never ending quest to pioneer new document imaging related functions and features in order to remain one step ahead of the competition.

Currently, fi-4120C and fi-4220C scanners, the forerunners to the fi-4120C2 and the fi-4220C2, are being used at various company divisions and branches to scan application sheets and other business forms in a decentralized scanning environment. With the release of the ADF-only fi-4120C2 and ADF / flatbed equipped fi-4220C2, PFU offers such users improved document feeding and scanning input performance.
fi-4120C2 and fi-4220C2 Main Features

  1. Excellent document feeding performance! The fi-4120C2 and the fi-4220C2 are the world’s first scanners capable of reading the front and reverse-side of cards in a single pass
The fi-4120C2's and the fi-4220C2’s document feeding performance exceeds that of their immediate predecessors. A unique "virtually straight" path taken by documents passing through their ADF units enables both the fi-4120C2 and fi-4220C2 to be the world’s first scanners offering ID card and point card (*2) front and reverse-side scannability in a single pass. This improved document feeding performance enables the fi-4120C2 and the fi-4220C2 to scan a wide variety of documents.
  2. Able to scan at a speedy 50ipm
These scanners achieve a duplex scanning speed of 50ipm, double that of their forerunners, when scanning A4 documents in color (150dpi). This increased speed enables the fi-4120C2 and the fi-4220C2 to offer improved imaging productivity.
  3. The first scanners in their class offering switchable backgrounds (black & white)
The fi-4120C2 and the fi-4220C2 are the first document scanners in their class that offer switchable black and white backgrounds. They also offer auto-cropping and auto-de-skew functions that correct any misaligned images. As a result, these scanners improve productivity by eliminating the need for operators to manually separate documents into batches containing same sized sheets of paper.
  4. Multi-feed detectability
The fi-4120C2 and the fi-4220C2 are both equipped with infrared (IR) sensors that detect document weight (thickness) and optical sensors that detect page length. Thus, enabling users to reduce "down time", through detecting when two or more sheets of paper have been fed simultaneously or when other scanning errors have occurred.
  5. The fi-4120C2 is the first scanner in its class to support an imprinter (fi-412PR, optional )
This marks the first time that an imprinter option (fi-412PR, a 40 character limit post imprinter) has ever been offered by any scanner in this class. An imprinter option has been offered to meet the great demand for imprinting business forms as they are being scanned. The fi-412PR option enables operators to print ID codes containing letters and numbers on documents after they have been scanned. Thus, easing the task of locating these paper documents at a later date for verification purposes.
