PFU Launches the fi-5900C A3 Duplex High Speed Color Scanner

-- Scans at a Class Dominating 100ppm (200ipm)! --

In 2005, PFU realized that the implementation of various compliance laws across the globe would lead to an increased need for scanners that are capable of digitizing massive volumes of paper documents. A perceived need that it met by developing the all new 100ppm (200ipm, portrait) capable fi-5900C.
In addition to being fast, the fi-5900C is armed with an array of features and functions that improve pre and post scanning efficiencies; thus cutting down on lost scanning time.

fi-5900C Main Features

1. Class dominating 100ppm (200ipm) scanning speed!
   Use of high speed CCD image sensors along with the latest in image processing circuitry enables the fi-5900C to scan color A4 documents at a speedy 100ppm (200ipm) (200/300dpi, portrait). Incorporating all of this technology into the fi-5900C enables it to digitize an incredible one hundred thousand pages per day.
2. Efficient pre and post scanning processing!
   The fi-5900C’s ability to scan mixed batch documents containing paper of varying sizes, weights and colors virtually eliminates pre-scanning preparation needs. Also, the fi-5900C is equipped with an “active stacking tray” that automatically maintains a constant height, ensuring that scanned documents are always stacked in a neat and orderly fashion. The result is extreme scanning efficiency for the user.
3. Reduced lost scanning time
   The fi-5900C reduces lost scanning time to a minimum.
   1) Multi-feed detection feature
   This feature uses three ultrasonic multi-feed sensors to detect whenever two or more sheets of paper have been simultaneously fed into the scanner, regardless of document weight, size or color.
   2) Document protection feature
   This function detects whenever a jam is about to occur and immediately halts the scanning process to ensure that original documents are not damaged.
   3) Anti-corner cutting feature
   This feature detects whenever a document is being improperly fed into the scanner and adjusts the timing of the scanning process to realign this sheet of paper. By ensuring that each document is properly scanned, the cutting of corners out of skewed images will become a problem of the past.
4. Environmental compatibility
   In addition to being fully compliant with the RoHS Act (*3), a European regulation, the fi-5900C is an Energy Star® compatible product that ranks among the top scanners in its class when in sleep mode.

Other features

• The automatic color detection function recognizes both color as well as black and white documents and saves them accordingly.
• The fi-5900C comes bundled with the highly renown Kofax VirtualReScan™ (VRS4.0 Plus) circuitry / software combination that guarantees speedy high quality scanning, regardless of whatever it is scanning.
• It also supports both an optional pre-imprinter and a post-imprinter, which assist with document management and reference purposes by printing information on original paper documents.
