PFU Launches the ScanSnap S300, the World's Smallest and Lightest Duplex ADF Scanner.

--A bus-power supporting scanner that can be used in just about any situation--

PFU Limited's (President Fujio Wajima, Tokyo Headquarters, Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture) Japanese launch of the S300, the entry level "one-touch" speedy duplex member of the ScanSnap family(*1), took place on October 6, 2007. (Orders for the S300C began being accepted on October 1, 2007)

ScanSnap S300ScanSnap "one touch" easy-to-use compact color duplex ADF scanners are being used by tens of thousands of people around the world to digitize paper-based information.
Now, the multiple-needs meeting S300 joins its ScanSnap sibling, the S510, to carry on the tradition. Not only has the world's smallest(*2) compact duplex color ADF(*3) S300 inherited the ScanSnap simple "one-touch" operability, it is also the world's first(*2) USB bus powered scanner(*4). Thus, the S300 enables users to digitize paper virtually anywhere, including when away from the office and the home.
The newly launched S300, teamed up with the best selling S510, combine to form a powerful pair that is capable of meeting a wide range of enduser needs.

ScanSnap S300 Main Features

  1. The World's Smallest and Lightest Duplex ADF Scanner
Weighing in at a mere 1.4kg, the world's smallest and lightest duplex ADF scanner is compact enough to be used with a notebook computer when out of the office or home. In addition to being tiny, the S300 is able to scan up to 8 double sided color and / or black and white documents a minute(*5).
  2. The World's First USB Bus Powered ADF Scanner
As the world's first USB bus powered ADF scanner, the S300 can be hooked up to a computer USB for use in various locations. In addition, carrying the S300 around is as easy as can be with the optional ScanSnap S300 soft case.
  3. Carries on the ScanSnap Concept of "One Touch" Usability
Like other ScanSnap scanners, the S300 runs on the "one-touch" concept, which automatically recognizes scanned document sizes, shows images as they should appear without forcing users to worry about de-skewing or correcting image orientation, removes blank images and creates searchable PDF files. Furthermore, the bundled PDF management ScanSnap Organizer software, enables users to view, arrange and edit (add, delete, re-arrange and rotate) S300 created PDF Files.
