
Making Files Manageable with ScanSnap Home
This section explains how to import a file into ScanSnap Home and how to assign a local folder or a network folder as a folder to be managed in ScanSnap Home.
Importing a file by performing a scan
Scan a document with the ScanSnap and import a scanned image from the document as a content data record to ScanSnap Home.
Windows
If one of the following is selected for [Type] in [Managing options] in the settings for the profile used when scanning a document, the content data record of the scanned document will not be managed by ScanSnap Home.
PC (Scan to file)
Network folder
If [PC (Scan to file)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options] in the settings for a profile that is used when scanning a document, the content data record of the scanned document is not managed by ScanSnap Home.
To modify the settings for a profile that you use when scanning a document, refer to Modifying the Settings for a Profile.
macOS
If one of the following is selected for [Type] in [Managing options] in the settings for the profile used when scanning a document, the content data record of the scanned document will not be managed by ScanSnap Home.
Mac (Scan to file)
Network folder
If [Mac (Scan to file)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options] in the settings for a profile that is used when scanning a document, the content data record of the scanned document is not managed by ScanSnap Home.

Assigning a folder
Assign a local folder or a network folder as a folder to be managed in ScanSnap Home.
Importing a file by dragging and dropping it
Drag and drop a file which is not managed in ScanSnap Home, into the folder list view or the Content Data Record List View on the Main Window so that the file is imported as a content data record of which the document type is [Documents].
Each imported file is managed as a single content data record.
- Import target
Only files can be imported in ScanSnap Home. Multiple files can be selected and imported together in ScanSnap Home. The selected files are imported as copies so that the files in the original folders do not get deleted.

Files can be dropped in the following folders under the [PC] folder in the folder list view of the main window.
[ScanSnap Home] folder
A folder which is assigned to be managed in ScanSnap Home
macOS
Files can be dropped in the following folders under the [Mac] folder in the folder list view of the main window.
[ScanSnap Home] folder
A folder which is assigned to be managed in ScanSnap Home
Importing a file by migrating the existing software application
Files for the following existing software application can be migrated and imported in ScanSnap Home.
