Rack2-Filer V5.0 Service Pack 5

<To customers not using Rack2 Folder Monitor Software (automatic file import function)>
Uninstall Rack2 Folder Monitor Software if it is on your computer, then apply Service Pack 5.

<To customers using Rack2 Folder Monitor Software>
If you are using Rack2 Folder Monitor Software, Rack2-Filer V5.0 Service Pack 4 or earlier, do not apply Service Pack 5. If you do, a message may appear when you start your computer saying, "Unable to read the Rack2 Folder Monitor settings. Check the environment settings." and Rack2 Filer will not run properly. This issue will be resolved with the next Rack2-Filer update program scheduled in the end of December.

PFU has stopped releasing update fixes for Rack2 Folder Monitor Software V5.0. Please see the FAQ page for details.
  • To use the Rack2 Folder Monitor Software (automatic file import function) after Rack2-Filer V5.0 Service Pack 5 is applied, first download and install Rack2 Folder Monitor Software V5.0L50 and then apply Rack2-Filer V5.0 Service Pack 5 again. This procedure is not required if Rack2 Folder Monitor Software is already installed when Rack2-Filer V5.0 Service Pack 5 is applied. Rack2 Folder Monitor Software is also updated when Rack2-Filer V5.0 Service Pack 5 is applied.

Modifications

After it is applied, Rack2-Filer V5.0 Service Pack 5:

  • Added the "Photo Binder" function for specifically managing photos.
  • Added the function for exporting binder data as a PDF file to Evernote, Google Docs™, Salesforce Chatter, SugarSync and iPad/iPhone/iPod touch.
  • Added the method of importing 8 cards per page (left and right side of the page) to the former method of importing 4 cards per page (left side of the page) when importing to a card binder.
  • Improved the efficiency of the process of deleting sheets or pages.
  • Improved the page turning position, so that the page is not mistakenly turned when selecting a page in Rack2-Viewer.
  • Corrected the problem of long processing times when running OCR on data containing detailed table formatting.
  • Corrected the problem of the selected area not being zoomed as selected when zooming an area in Rack2-Viewer.
  • Corrected the problem of the displayed image becoming blurred in environments using multiple displays when maximizing the window in Rack2-Viewer.
  • Some other minor problems have been corrected or improved.

Operating Procedures

  1. Download "Rack2V50SP5.exe" from an environment in which allows the access to the Internet.
  2. Select [Save] when a dialog box that prompts for file processing method appears.
    *Make a note of where you save "Rack2V50SP5.exe" (desktop is recommended).
  3. Log on to Windows® with the User Name (with administrator privileges) that has been used when the old version of Rack2-Filer was installed.
  4. Execute the downloaded "Rack2V50SP5.exe" to begin installation.
    Note: In some cases, a message which requests the user to restart the system may appear. In this case, restart the system accordingly.
  5. The Installer is activated and the following message appears. Click the [Next] button to continue.
  6. Follow the instructions in the InstallShield Wizard to proceed with the installation.

    Note:
    If the message below appears during the installation, Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.0 or 3.5 may not be installed or may be turned off. When the feature that can send the data from Rack2-Filer to Google Docs™, Salesforce Chatter, or mobile devices is used, it is necessary to turn on Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.0 or 3.5. After the Service Pack installation is complete, install or turn on Microsoft® .Net Framework 3.0 or 3.5.
    For details on how to turn on Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.0 or 3.5, refer to section "How to turn on Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.0".

  7. The "InstallShield Wizard Complete" window appears after installation of Rack2-Filer V5.0 Service Pack 5 is complete.

How to verify that Rack2-Filer V5.0 Service Pack 5 has been successfully installed

  • Rack2-Filer

    Launch Rack2-Filer, and select the [About Rack2-Filer] from the [Help] menu.
    The following dialog boxes appears.
    After this update is applied, the version becomes V5.0L60.
  • Rack2-Viewer

    Launch Rack2-Viewer, and select [Settings] to open the following dialog box.
    After this update is applied, the version becomes V5.0L50.
  • Rack2 Folder Monitor Software

    While Rack2 Folder Monitor Software is launched, right-click the task tray icon and select [Version Information] to open the following dialog box.
    After this update is applied, the version becomes V5.0L50.

How to exit Rack2 Folder Monitor Software

For Windows® 2000 / Windows® XP / Windows Vista®
  1. While Rack2 Folder Monitor Software is launched, the Rack2 Folder Monitor Software icon is displayed in the task bar on the bottom right of the screen.
  2. To exit Rack2 Folder Monitor Software, right-click on the icon, and select [Exit].
For Windows® 7
  1. Click the button on the bottom right of the screen to display the hidden icons.
    While Rack2 Folder Monitor Software is launched, the Rack2 Folder Monitor Software icon is displayed.
  2. To exit Rack2 Folder Monitor Software, right-click on the icon, and select [Exit].

How to turn on Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.0

  1. From the [Programs and Features] on the Control Panel, select [Turn Windows features on or off].
  2. On the [Windows Features] window, fill the check box of the [Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0] and click [OK].
