Multifeed
When a multifeed occurs, the following error code is displayed on the Function Number Display of the operator panel.
"J" and "2" are displayed alternately

When a multifeed error occurs, remove the document by referring to "Paper Jam".
If multifeeds occur frequently, check the following points and take measures accordingly.
Do the documents meet the paper requirements? |
No

Use documents that meet the paper requirements described in "Documents for Scanning". |
Yes |
Is the Carrier Sheet used? |
Yes

Specify the scan settings for the Carrier Sheet in the scanner driver. |
No |
If multifeed detection is enabled, does the document meet the conditions for an accurate multifeed detection? |
No

|
Fulfill the "Conditions Required for Accurate Multifeed Detection".
As needed, select the [Selected range] checkbox for [Document check area specification for Multifeed Detection] in [Device Setting 2] in the Software Operation Panel, and specify an area to detect multifeed. |

Did you scan a thick document such as a plastic card? |
Yes

Perform one of the following:
- Use the multifeed window display function of the scanner driver.
- Use the Intelligent Multifeed function in the Software Operation Panel.
- Disable the multifeed detection setting of the scanner driver.

Have the documents just been printed out from a copy machine or a laser printer? |
Yes

Fan the documents a few times by referring to "How to Fan Documents", to eliminate static electricity. |

Is the Roller Set (the brake roller and pick roller) installed correctly? |
No

Install the Roller Set (the brake roller and pick roller) correctly. |
Yes |
Is the Roller Set (the brake roller and pick roller) clean? |
No

|
Clean the Roller Set (the brake roller and pick roller). |
Yes |
Is the Roller Set (the brake roller and pick roller) worn out? |
Yes

Replace the Roller Set (the brake roller and pick roller) correctly. |
No |
Is the scanner used at 2,000 m or higher altitudes? |
Yes

Select [Enable] for [High Altitude Mode] in [Device Setting 2] in the Software Operation Panel.
If the scanner is used at an altitude lower than 2,000 m with [High Altitude Mode] set to [Enable], multifeeds may not be detected. |
