The RICOH fi-8700S combines a simplex ADF for single-sided scanning with an A3 flatbed. The ADF scans at up to 75 ppm, while its 300-sheet paper chute supports efficient batch scanning. From thin paper and plastic cards to books, magazines, envelopes, fragile originals, and long documents, the fi-8700S helps improve productivity in environments that handle large volumes of diverse documents.

Reliable Scanning of Diverse Documents
High-Speed, Uninterrupted Operation
The simplex ADF scans at up to 75 ppm, while the paper chute holds up to 300 sheets for efficient batch scanning. Documents can also be added during scanning, helping users process large volumes with fewer interruptions.
Scan Thick and Irregular Documents with Stable Feeding
The straight paper path provides stable feeding for documents of various types and conditions. By switching to Manual Feed Mode, users can scan thick documents such as drawings folded in half, multi-layered receipts, and envelopes through the same straight paper path. The ADF also supports long documents, thin paper, and plastic cards.
Protect Important Documents and Reduce Rescanning
The Paper Protection function detects abnormal sounds and paper feed irregularities to help prevent document damage, allowing users to scan important documents with confidence.
Skew Reducer
The Skew Reducer prevents a skewed document from affecting the feeding of subsequent documents. This helps prevent missing image edges and reduces the need to rescan documents.
Flexible Installation and Operation
Expand Placement Options with Wired LAN Connectivity
In addition to USB connectivity, wired LAN support enables more flexible scanner placement. Users can operate the scanner without being constrained by the location of the connected PC, making it easier to adapt the scanner to different workplace environments.
Adapt the ADF to the Workspace
The ADF rotates 180 degrees and can be positioned to the left or right, allowing documents to be loaded comfortably from either side. This flexible design makes it easier to install and operate the scanner in a variety of workspaces.

Efficient Flatbed Scanning
Scan Multiple Documents at Once with Multi-Crop
Multi-Crop allows multiple documents placed on the flatbed to be scanned at once and automatically saved as separate files. This reduces the need to scan each document individually and streamlines the processing of mixed documents, including long, narrow receipts and forms with attached materials.
Scan Multi-Page Documents with Fewer Operations
Timer Scan automatically scans documents on the flatbed at preset intervals, allowing users to turn pages without pressing the scan button each time.
When used with Cover-open Cropping, Timer Scan allows users to scan continuously with the flatbed cover open. This reduces the need to repeatedly open and close the cover or press the scan button, making it particularly useful for multi-page booklets and forms.
Advanced Software for Efficient Workflows
The fi-8700S includes the PaperStream IP scanner driver and two scanning applications, PaperStream Capture and PaperStream ClickScan, as standard.
Optimize Scanned Images with PaperStream IP
PaperStream IP is a scanner driver that supports both TWAIN and ISIS. It automatically optimizes scanned images for OCR and produces clear images even from documents with patterned backgrounds or documents that are wrinkled or soiled, reducing the need for detailed image-setting adjustments.
Streamline Batch Scanning with PaperStream Capture
PaperStream Capture streamlines tasks such as scanning, file sorting, data organization, and barcode recognition. Barcodes and patch codes can be used to automatically sort scanned files into designated folders, reducing routine manual work.

- Indicated speeds are from using JPEG compression.
- Indicated speeds are from using TIFF CCITT Group 4 compression.
- Selectable maximum resolution may vary depending on the length of the scanned document.
- Limitations may apply to the size of documents that can be scanned, depending on system environment, when scanning at high resolution (over 600 dpi).
- Capable of scanning documents that exceed Legal sheets in length. Long page scanning supports documents with lengths of up to 5,588 mm (220 in.) when the resolution is set to 200 dpi or less. Documents of up to 200m (218.8 yd.) can be scanned if scans of long page documents are split into multiple pages.
- Paper weight limitations only apply when using the ADF. There are no limitations when using the flatbed.
- Capable of scanning up to 3 cards at a time when using the ADF. (Note: only one embossed card can be scanned at a time).
- Maximum capacity depends on paper weight and may vary.
- Numbers are calculated using scanning speeds and typical hours of scanner use, and are not meant to guarantee daily volume or unit durability.
- Intelligent Sonic Paper Protection.
