[PDF file option] Window
The [PDF file option] window appears when you click the [Option] button for [Scan settings] in the [Add new profile] window or the [Edit profiles] window.
When you save scanned images in a PDF format (*.pdf), you can set whether or not images are converted into searchable PDF files and the number of pages for a document that scanned images are created from.
This section explains the setting items which are available when a local folder or network folder is the save destination for scanned images. One of the local folders is a folder that is synchronized with a cloud service.
You cannot scan documents with the ScanSnap while the [PDF file option] window is displayed.
- Searchable PDF

- [Convert to Searchable PDF] checkbox
This checkbox is displayed in the following cases:
When the document type is [Documents]
When the document type is [Business Cards], [PC (Scan to file)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options], and an option other than [Quick Menu] is selected for [Send to]
If this checkbox is selected, text on the image is recognized in the language that is specified in the [Title] tab or the [File name] tab of the [Detailed settings] window, and a searchable PDF file is created.
The setting has an affect on the [Convert to Searchable PDF] checkbox in the [File format] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.
If [ABBYY Scan to Searchable PDF] is selected for [Send to] in the [Add new profile] Window or the [Edit profiles] Window, this checkbox is disabled.
HINTEven if you select [ABBYY Scan to Searchable PDF] for [Send to] in the [Add new profile] window or the [Edit profiles] window, you can create a searchable PDF.
In this case, you can select a language of text to be recognized from among more languages.

Appears when the document type is [Documents] or [Receipts].
- Create a single PDF file from all sheets
Images of all documents that you scanned are saved as a single PDF file.
- Create a PDF file per number of specified sheets
Images of documents that you scanned are saved per number of specified sheets as a single PDF file.
Specify the number of sheets from 1 to 999.
Regardless of the PDF page split setting, the maximum number of pages for a PDF files is 1,000.

- [Output in PDF/A-1b] checkbox
If this checkbox is selected, images of documents that you scanned are saved in the PDF format that is compliant with PDF/A-1b. [Password] is disabled when you are creating a PDF/A-1b compliant PDF file.

- [Set a password for a PDF file] checkbox
If this checkbox is selected, when you save a scanned image in a PDF format, the window in which you can set a password to open a PDF file appears. Password must be up to 16 alphanumeric characters and symbols.
- [Use a fixed password] checkbox
This is available when the [Set a password for a PDF file] checkbox is selected.
Select this checkbox to specify the same password for all scanned images in a PDF format.
Enter up to 16 alphanumeric characters and symbols into the [Password] input field and the [Confirm] input field to specify the password.
