Updating the Firmware in ScanSnap Home

Update the ScanSnap firmware to add new features or improve features and operational performance. When a newer version of firmware is released, you will receive a notification from ScanSnap Home.

ATTENTION
  • To update the firmware, you need to have access to the Internet.

  • Do not perform the following operations while updating the firmware. Otherwise, the firmware data may be corrupted.

    • Turning off the ScanSnap

    • Disconnecting the ScanSnap and the computer by unplugging the USB cable from the ScanSnap or the computer or by changing the Wi-Fi settings.

  • Do not turn off the ScanSnap or unplug the USB cable while updating the firmware. Otherwise, the firmware data may be corrupted.

HINT
  • Checking the latest information on the firmware in advance allows you to decide whether or not the firmware needs to be updated.

  • If you use the software related to the ScanSnap, apply the latest updates to the software as well. For details, refer to To Update the Software.

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    For details, refer to To Display the Main Window.

  2. Select [Settings] in the menu → [Preferences] to display the preferences window.
  3. Select the ScanSnap that is currently connected to the computer from the list of ScanSnap units in [Scanner information] that is located in the [Scanner] tab.
    HINT
    • The [Scanner] tab can be displayed from the ScanSnap Home menu which appears when you right-click the ScanSnap Home icon in the notification area of the taskbar.

  4. Click the [Update] button.
  5. Follow the instructions on the [ScanSnap Firmware Update] window that appears.

The firmware update starts.

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    Click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

  2. Select [ScanSnap Home] on the menu bar → [Preferences] to display the preferences window.
  3. Select the ScanSnap that is currently connected to the computer from the list of ScanSnap units in [Scanner information] that is located in the [Scanner] tab.
    HINT
    • The [Scanner] tab can be displayed from the ScanSnap Home menu which appears when you click the ScanSnap Home icon in the menu bar.

  4. Click the [Update] button.
  5. Follow the instructions on the [ScanSnap Firmware Update] window that appears.

The firmware update starts.
