Specifying a Text Recognition Language for Each Document Type

Specify a language for text recognition in cases other than when scanning documents with the ScanSnap, which are described below.

  • When importing a file from a local folder or network folder to ScanSnap Home

  • When changing the document type of a content data record in ScanSnap Home

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    For details, refer to To Display the Main Window.

  2. Select [Settings] in the menu → [Preferences] to display the preferences window.
  3. Specify a text recognition language for each document type in the [Language] tab.
    • Language, Location/Region of receipt (Language)

      Specify a language of the text to be recognized.

      If you want to add another language that is not in the list, select [Select another language] and install the OCR pack.

      For the languages included in the OCR Pack, refer to OCR Pack (Windows).

      HINT
      • When [Do not recognize text] is selected, the content data record created from a document that you scanned is imported to ScanSnap Home under the following conditions:

        • When the document type is [Documents], searchable PDF files are not created nor is the title or the summary consisting of three lines extracted

        • When the document type is [Business Cards], information on the business card is not extracted

        • When the document type is [Receipts], information on the receipt is not extracted

        After content data records are imported to ScanSnap Home, text recognition can be performed again if necessary.

    • Default currency

      This setting item is for [Receipts] only.

      Specify the currency to use when failing to recognize the currency as text.

      The default setting is the currency automatically obtained from the locale (information of country and region) of your computer.

      To specify a currency of your choice, click the [Customize] button, and enter the three-letter alphabetic code of the currency in the window that appears. It is recommended to use currency codes that are defined in ISO 4217.

      Only one currency can be specified for the customized currency.

  4. Click the [OK] button to close the preferences window.

When the document types is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts], the language to recognize text is set.

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    Click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

  2. Select [ScanSnap Home] on the menu bar → [Preferences] to display the preferences window.
  3. Specify a text recognition language for each document type in the [Language] tab.
    • Language, Location/Region of receipt (Language)

      Specify a language of the text to be recognized.

      HINT
