The Title Is Not Extracted/The Title Appears Different from the One on the Document

When you perform a scan, if the text in the title is not extracted correctly, check the following:

Did you set the language used in the document instead of setting [Automatic] for the language setting in [Title] in the scan settings?

Set the same language as the one used in the document for the language setting in [Title] in the following procedure:

  1. Click the [Scan] button at the top of the main window of ScanSnap Home to display the scan window.

If the main window is not already displayed, refer to To Display the Main Window.

  2. Select the profile that you are using from the profile list.

  3. Click Edit profiles to display the [Edit profiles] window.

  4. Click the [Detailed settings] button in [Scan settings] to display the [Detailed settings] window.

  5. Select the [Title] tab and set the same language as the one used in the document instead of setting [Automatic].

If the problem persists even after the above actions are taken, refer to Changing the Title for a Content Data Record and change the title manually.

  1. Click the [Scan] button at the top of the main window of ScanSnap Home to display the scan window.

If the main window is not already displayed, click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

Did you scan a document that has a title which is hard to extract?

When [Title is generated automatically] is selected for [Title format] in the scan settings, the title is extracted from a character string on a document.

Therefore, a title may not be extracted or a title appears different from the one on a document when you scan the following types of documents:

  • Documents with many photographs or figures and few characters

  • Documents with characters on a patterned background or a background with gradation

  • Documents on which pitches between lines or characters are extremely narrow, or characters are overlapped

  • Documents with many characters contacting underlines or borders

  • Documents with handwritten characters

  • Documents with faint characters

  • Documents with faded characters

  • Documents with a title that has borders or illustrations

  • Documents with space smaller than one line of a sentence above and below a title

  • Documents with the title that contains characters in different sizes

  • Documents in which all character sizes are the same

  • Documents with a title that is written in a direction other than in a horizontal direction

  • Documents with multiple titles

  • Documents with multiple dates

  • Documents with characters in the header or footer

If a title on the scanned image is not extracted or a title appears different from the one on the document, refer to Changing the Title for a Content Data Record and change the title manually.
