Multifeed

When a paper jam occurs, the LED indicator and the [Power] button on the operator panel operate as follows:

When a multifeed error occurs, remove the document by referring to "Paper Jam".

If multifeeds occur frequently, check the following points and take measures accordingly.

Do the documents meet the paper requirements?	No	Use documents that meet the paper requirements described in "Documents for Scanning".
Yes

If multifeed detection is enabled, does the document meet the conditions for an accurate multifeed detection?	No	Fulfill the Conditions Required for Accurate Multifeed Detection".
Yes

Did you scan a thick document?	Yes	Disable the multifeed detection in the scanner driver when scanning documents.
No

Did you fan the documents before loading them?	No	Fan the documents by referring to "How to Fan Documents".. If the problem persists, load the documents by referring to "Aligning Documents".
Yes

Have the documents just been printed out from a copy machine or a laser printer?	Yes	Fan the documents a few times by referring to "How to Fan Documents", to eliminate static electricity.
No

Are the pad unit and the pick roller unit installed correctly?	No	Install the pad unit and the pick roller unit correctly.
Yes

Are the pad unit and the pick roller unit clean?	No	Clean the pad unit and the pick roller unit.
Yes

Are the pad unit and the pick roller unit worn out?	Yes	Check the counter for the consumables. Replace the pad unit and the pick roller unit if needed.
No

Are you using the scanner at a high altitude (higher than 2,000 m)?	Yes	Disable the multifeed detection in the scanner driver when scanning documents. When a document that weighs 100 g/m² (26.8 lb) or more is scanned at a high altitude (higher than 2,000m), it may be detected as a multifeed.
No
