Migrating Files from an Existing Software Application to ScanSnap Home

When ScanSnap Manager is migrated to ScanSnap Home, files for existing software applications can be imported as files to be managed in ScanSnap Home.

The existing software applications to be migrated are as follows:

  • ScanSnap Organizer V4.1 or later (*1)

  • CardMinder V4.1 or later (*2)

  • ScanSnap Receipt V1 or later

Logging on to a computer with the same user account which you use for ScanSnap Organizer is required.

The database needs to be saved in an accessible place from the computer that you are using.

HINT

To migrate files from an existing software application to ScanSnap Home, the drive on your device requires sufficient amount of free space for files to be migrated to it.

Required free space on a drive varies depending on the drive that you specified for the [ScanSnap Home] folder.

  • When the save destination for the [ScanSnap Home] folder is set to a drive on a device that Windows is installed on

    The drive requires free space that is at least 2.5 times larger than the total size of files to be migrated to ScanSnap Home.

  • When the save destination for the [ScanSnap Home] folder is set to a drive on a device that Windows is not installed on

    The drive that is specified for the [ScanSnap Home] folder as well as the drive that Windows is installed on requires free space that is the same size as the total size of files to be migrated to ScanSnap Home or more.

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    For details, refer to To Display the Main Window.

  2. From the list that is displayed when you select [Help] in the menu → [Data conversion], select an existing software application with files to be migrated.

    Select an existing software application with files to be migrated from the following:

    • All

      Migrates files for ScanSnap Organizer, CardMinder, and ScanSnap Receipt to files for ScanSnap Home.

      In the [Select the software to be converted] window, select a software program for which files are migrated, and then click the [Next] button.

    • ScanSnap Organizer

      Migrates files for ScanSnap Organizer to files for ScanSnap Home.

    • CardMinder

      Migrates files for CardMinder to files for ScanSnap Home.

    • ScanSnap Receipt

      Migrates files for ScanSnap Receipt to files for ScanSnap Home.

  3. In the window for starting migrating files, click the [Start] button.
    HINT
    • The estimated time and remaining time for migrating files that are displayed in the window, are the expected values. The actual time it takes for migrating files will be slightly different depending on your system environment or the content of your files that you want to migrate.

    • When the window for specifying a database file for business card data appears, go to step 4.

    • When a message appears indicating that the migrating of files is complete, go to step 5.

  4. Migrate the database that manages the business card data for CardMinder.

    In the window that appears when you click the [Change] button, select a database file for business card data, and then click the [Start] button.

    The file format of a database is *.bid or *.cxdb.

    HINT
    • When the selected database is password-protected, the [Password Entry] window appears. Enter the password to open the database and continue the migrating operation.

  5. Click the [Finish] button to close the window.

When the migrating of files is complete, the following folders are added in the folder list view in the main window.

  • ScanSnap Organizer

    The [ScanSnap Organizer] folder is assigned as a folder to be managed in ScanSnap Home and is added in the [PC] folder.

  • CardMinder

    The [CardMinder_DBFileName] folder is added in the [ScanSnap Home] folder.

  • ScanSnap Receipt

    The [ScanSnap Receipt] folder is added in the [ScanSnap Home] folder.

When ScanSnap Manager is migrated to ScanSnap Home, files for the existing software applications can be migrated as files to be managed in ScanSnap Home.

The existing software applications to be migrated are as follows:

  • ScanSnap Organizer V1.1 or later (*1)

  • CardMinder V1.1 or later (*2)

  • ScanSnap Receipt V1 or later

Logging in to a computer with the same user account which you use for ScanSnap Organizer is required.

The database needs to be saved in an accessible place from the computer that you are using.

HINT
  • To migrate files from an existing software application to ScanSnap Home, the drive requires free space that is at least 50 MB in addition to the amount of free space which is two times larger than the total size of files to be migrated to ScanSnap Home.

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    Click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

  2. From the list that is displayed when you select [Help] on the menu bar → [Data conversion], select an existing software application with files to be migrated.

    Select an existing software application with files to be migrated from the following:

    • All

      Migrates files for ScanSnap Organizer, CardMinder, and ScanSnap Receipt to files for ScanSnap Home.

      In the [Select the software to be converted] window, select a software program for which files are migrated, and then click the [Next] button.

    • ScanSnap Organizer

      Migrates files for ScanSnap Organizer to files for ScanSnap Home.

    • CardMinder

      Migrates files for CardMinder to files for ScanSnap Home.

    • ScanSnap Receipt

      Migrates files for ScanSnap Receipt to files for ScanSnap Home.

  3. In the window for starting migrating files, click the [Start] button.
    • When the window for specifying a database file for business card data appears, go to step 4.

    • When a message appears indicating that the migrating of files is complete, go to step 5.

  4. Migrate the database that manages the business card data for CardMinder.

    In the window that appears when you click the [Change] button, select a database file for business card data, and then click the [Start] button.

    The file format of a database is *.cmdb or *.cxdb.

    HINT
    • When the selected database is password-protected, the [Password Entry] window appears. Enter the password to open the database and continue the migrating operation.

  5. Click the [Finish] button to close the window.

When the migrating of files is complete, the following folders are added in the folder list view in the main window.

  • ScanSnap Organizer

    The [ScanSnap Organizer] folder is assigned as a folder to be managed in ScanSnap Home and is added in the [Mac] folder.

  • CardMinder

    The [CardMinder_DBFileName] folder is added in the [ScanSnap Home] folder.

  • ScanSnap Receipt

    The [ScanSnap Receipt] folder is added in the [ScanSnap Home] folder.
