
[Add new profile] Window (When Using ScanSnap Cloud)
The [Add new profile] window of ScanSnap Home is the window in which you can add a new profile to the profile list. Configure the settings for a profile according to the documents to be scanned or the intended usages for the content data records created from documents that you scanned.
This section explains the setting items for a template profile that is linked with a cloud service or for a template profile that is used to send an e-mail by using ScanSnap Cloud. A setting item which is not supported by a cloud service that you established a link with is not displayed or cannot be selected.

- Template
The template profiles are displayed in a list.
Selecting a template profile changes the settings for the profile.
An action that is performed when scanning documents by using a profile is displayed in the description
.
- Profile name

- Icon
Displays the profile icon of the selected template profile.
In the [Icon selection] window that appears when you click an icon, you can change the icon to the icon that you select.
- Profile name
A profile name is displayed here. To change the profile name, click the profile name.
If you do not change the profile name, the profile name is automatically generated according to the changes to [Document type detection] and [Cloud Service].
- Description
Displays the description of the selected template profile. Click the description to modify it.
- Icon
- Document type detection
Used to set whether to automatically detect the type of scanned document according to each document to be scanned or fix the type of the scanned document.

When [Automatically detects the document type as "Documents", "Business Cards", "Receipts", or "Photos" and scans the document with the appropriate scan settings] is selected for [Document type detection], a tab for a document type can be selected. By switching tabs, you can specify the scan settings for each document type.
- Cloud Service

This is displayed when [Scan to Cloud] is selected in the template list.
The name of the cloud service where scanned images are saved is displayed.
For details about a cloud service that you can establish a link with, refer to the following:
- [Select] button
Click this button to display a list of service names of cloud services. You can select a cloud service that you want to set as a save destination from the list.
- Save to/Company name

This can be changed when [Scan to Cloud] is selected from the template list.
The save destination for scanned images that is set for a cloud service that you established a link with is displayed.
- [Browse] button
When you click this, the [ScanSnap Cloud - Select Save Destination] window appears. The folder to save images of documents that you scanned can be selected.
- Color mode

- When the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts]

Displays the selected color setting.
The setting has an affect on [Color mode] in the [Scan] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.
The following settings are available.
Automatic
Automatically detects the color of each document and scans in color, gray, or black and white.
Color
Always saves the scanned image in color.
Gray
Always saves the scanned image in gray.
B & W
Always saves the scanned image in black and white.
Suitable for scanning black and white documents that only contain text.
- When the document type is [Photos]

You can specify the color mode for scanning documents in [Color mode] on the [Scan] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.
- Image settings

Appears when the document type is [Photos].
The colors in photos are adjusted only when color photos are scanned.
TIPThe following models support the color adjusting function in [Image settings].

- [Auto Enhancement] checkbox
Selecting this checkbox adjusts the contrast of a photo giving it more color.
- [Red Eye Correction] checkbox

Selecting this checkbox detects the face of a person and removes the red-eye effect in a photo.
- [Fading Correction] checkbox
Selecting this checkbox corrects a photo that has faded colors giving it more color.
- Scanning side
Displays the selected scanning side.
The setting has an affect on [Scanning side] in the [Scan] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.
The following settings are available.

Duplex
Scans both sides of a document.
When a document type is "Business Cards", scan the front side and then the back side of a business card to make the scanned images of both sides of the business card into a single content data record.
When a document type is "Documents", "Receipts", or "Photos", even if you select [Duplex] for this setting, a document is scanned as [Simplex].
Simplex
Scans only one side of a document.

- When the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts]

Displays the selected image quality (resolution).
Scanning speeds vary depending on the image quality.
The setting has an affect on [Image quality] in the [Scan] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.
The following settings are available.
Automatic
Scans documents at an optimal resolution according to the paper size of the documents.
The image quality is determined based on the length of the short side of the document.
When the short side is longer than 115 mm: Better
When the short side is 115 mm or shorter: Best
Normal
A scan is performed at a resolution of 150 dpi when [Color mode] is set to [Color] or [Gray] and 300 dpi when it is set to black and white.
Better
A scan is performed at a resolution of 200 dpi when [Color mode] is set to [Color] or [Gray], and 400 dpi when it is set to black and white.
Best
A scan is performed at a resolution of 300 dpi when [Color mode] is set to [Color] or [Gray], and 600 dpi when it is set to black and white.
- When the document type is [Photos]

You can specify the image quality (resolution) for scanning documents in [Image quality] on the [Scan] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.
- Rotation
Displays the rotation method that is currently selected.
The setting has an affect on [Rotation] in the [Scan] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.
The following settings are available.
Do not rotate
Does not rotate the image.
Automatic
Appears when the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts].
Automatically rotates the image when you scan a document sideways or upside down.
Since this option determines the page orientation based on the character strings printed on the document, select an option other than [Automatic] when scanning the following documents.
Documents with many extremely large or small characters
Documents on which pitches between lines or characters are extremely narrow, or characters are overlapped
Documents with many characters contacting underlines or borders
Documents with many photographs or figures and few characters
Documents with characters on an unevenly colored background such as shaded characters.
Documents with many decorated characters such as embossed or outlined characters
Documents with characters on a patterned background such as characters overlapping illustrations or diagrams
Documents with characters printed in various directions such as drawings
Documents written using only capital letters
Documents with handwritten characters
Skewed documents
Documents with complex layouts
Documents with a large amount of image noise
Documents with faint characters
Documents with faded characters
Automatic (by face detection)
Appears when the document type is [Photos].
Automatically rotates the image when you scan a photo sideways or upside down.
Images are rotated in accordance with the way the face of a person in a photo is orientated. If a photo is not of a person such as a landscape photo, images will not be rotated.

Displays the file format of a scanned image.
The setting has an affect on [File format] in the [File format] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.
The following settings are available.
TIPYou can select only the file format supported by a cloud service that you want to establish a link with.
PDF (*.pdf)
Saves a scanned image in a PDF format (*.pdf).
The page structure of a scanned image differs depending on the document type.
For "Documents"
Images of all documents that you scanned are saved as a single image.
For "Business Cards" or "Receipts"
An image of each document that you scanned is saved as a single image.
PDF (create per page) (*.pdf)
Saves scanned images in a PDF format (*.pdf).
Images of documents that you scanned are saved into separate files per page.
JPEG (*.jpg)
Saves a scanned image in a JPEG format (*.jpg).

Click this to display the [PDF file option] Window (When Using ScanSnap Cloud).
This is displayed if the following conditions for the profile settings are met.
The document type is set to be detected as a [Documents], [Business Cards], [Receipts] or set not to be detected
[PDF (*.pdf)] or [PDF (create per page) (*.pdf)] is selected for [File format]

You can specify the file format of a scanned image in the [File format] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.

Displays the format of the title that is set.
Click this to display the [Title] tab in the [Detailed settings] Window (When Using ScanSnap Cloud), and set the details of the title.

You can specify the content data record title, which is displayed in the main window of ScanSnap Home, in the [Title] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.

Click this button to display the [Detailed settings] window.
You can specify the details about the following scan settings in the [Detailed settings] window.

- Feed
Displays the feeding method that is selected now.
The setting has an affect on [Feed] in the [Feed option] window.
The following settings are available.
Normal scan
Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents loaded in the ScanSnap are scanned.
Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents inserted in the ScanSnap are scanned.
Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents placed under the ScanSnap are scanned.
Continuous scan
Scans documents continuously in multiple batches.
Select this feeding method to scan documents more than the amount that can be loaded in the ADF paper chute (cover) on the ScanSnap.
Manual scan
Scans documents that are loaded one sheet at a time.
Manual Scan (Front/Back merging)
Automatically merges the front and back images into one image when a document larger than A4/Letter size folded in half is scanned.
Manual scan
Scans documents that are loaded one sheet at a time.
- Feed mode setting
Displays the feeding methods for scanning documents.
- ADF
Displays [Normal scan] as the feeding method for U-turn Scan, in which a document is loaded in the ADF paper chute (cover) on the ScanSnap and scanned.
Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents are scanned.
- [Option] button
Click this to display the [ADF] tab in the [Feed option] Window (When Using ScanSnap Cloud).
You can specify the size of documents to be scanned in the [Feed option] window.
- Manual Feeder
Displays [Continuous scan] as the feeding method for Return Scan, in which a document is inserted into the manual feeder on the ScanSnap and scanned.
Documents are scanned continuously in multiple batches.
- [Option] button
Click this to display the [Manual Feeder] tab in the [Feed option] Window (When Using ScanSnap Cloud).
You can specify the size of documents to be scanned in the [Feed option] window.
- Feed
Displays [Continuous scan] as the feeding method for documents.
Documents are scanned continuously in multiple batches.
- [Option] button
Click this to display the [Feed option] Window (When Using ScanSnap Cloud).
You can specify the details about the feeding method for documents in the [Feed option] window.

Displays a save destination for scanned images.

The setting is blank and cannot be changed.

PC (Manage in ScanSnap Home)
For the items that are displayed when [PC (Manage in ScanSnap Home)] is selected, refer to [Add new profile] Window.
PC (Scan to file)
For the items that are displayed when [PC (Scan to file)] is selected, refer to [Add new profile] Window.
Network folder
For the items that are displayed when [Network folder] is selected, refer to [Add new profile] Window.
Cloud
Images created from the documents that you scanned are saved in a cloud service.
macOS
Mac (Manage in ScanSnap Home)
For the items that are displayed when [Mac (Manage in ScanSnap Home)] is selected, refer to [Add new profile] Window.
Mac (Scan to file)
For the items that are displayed when [Mac (Scan to file)] is selected, refer to [Add new profile] Window.
Network folder
For the items that are displayed when [Network folder] is selected, refer to [Add new profile] Window.
Cloud
Images created from the documents that you scanned are saved in a cloud service.

The name of the cloud service where scanned images are saved is displayed.

Click this button to display a list of service names of cloud services. You can select a cloud service that you want to set as a save destination from the list.
- [Email setting] button

Click this button to display the [Email setting] window.
You can set an e-mail address for an e-mail destination and a subject of an e-mail in the [Email setting] window.
The [Email setting] button is displayed when [ScanSnap Mail] is selected for [Cloud Service] in [Managing options].
macOS
Click this button to display the window for setting an e-mail address for an e-mail destination and a subject of an e-mail.
The [Email setting] button is displayed when [ScanSnap Mail] is selected for [Cloud Service] in [Managing options].
- Save to/Company name

- [Browse] button
When you click this, the [ScanSnap Cloud - Select Save Destination] window appears. The folder to save images of documents that you scanned can be selected.
- [Upload the data manually after scanning] checkbox
When you select this checkbox, images of the documents that you scanned are put on hold on the ScanSnap Cloud server.
You can manually send the image that has been put on hold to a cloud service after checking the scanned results.
- [Save images only to a cloud service] checkbox
When you select this checkbox, content information is not extracted from the document that you scanned and only a scanned image is saved in a cloud service.
Appears when the document type is [Business Cards] or [Receipts].
- [Add] button
Adds a profile to the profile list and synchronizes with the connected ScanSnap, and then closes the window.
- [Cancel] button
Close the window without adding profiles to the profile list.
