Exporting Business Card Data

The items in [Business card information] in the content data record with [Business Cards] specified for the document type can be exported as business card data in a specified file format.

When business card data is exported to a file, the business card data can be linked with other applications for a variety of uses.

HINT
  • The items displayed in [Business card information] of Content Data Record View are exported in a file as business card data.

  • An image of the business card is not exported. To export an image of the business card, refer to Saving a Scanned Image in a Specified Folder.

  • When the document type of the content data record is specified as a document type other than [Business Cards], the content data record cannot be exported in a file as business card data.

  • When CSV, text, or vCard is specified for the file format in which business card data is exported, if data with text that is not supported by the operating system is exported, the text may not be displayed correctly.

    Example: German text displayed in a Japanese operating system

  • When ContactXML is specified for the file format in which business card data is exported, the xml:lang attribute is set according to the language of the operating system.

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    For details, refer to To Display the Main Window.

  2. In the Content Data Record List View, select a content data record with business card data that you want to export.

    If you export business card data in content data records created from multiple business cards that you scanned, select the content data records while holding down the [Ctrl] key or [Shift] key.

  3. Select a file format in which business card data is exported.

    In the menu that appears when you right-click the content data record, click [Output the file] → [Output business card information] and select one of the following:

    • CSV.(Comma delimited) (*.csv)

    • Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt)

    • vCard (*.vcf)

    • ContactXML (*.xml)

    • Unicode CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv)

    • Unicode Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt)

    • Unicode vCard (*.vcf)

  4. Save the business card data in the [Save business card information] window.
    • When [vCard (*.vcf)] or [Unicode vCard (*.vcf)] is selected in step 3

      Specify a save destination for the business card data and click the [Select Folder] button.

    • When a file format other than [vCard (*.vcf)] or [Unicode vCard (*.vcf)] is selected in step 3

      Specify a save destination and a file name for the business card data and click the [Save] button.

The business card data is exported in the specified file format.

HINT
  • The exported business card data can be imported and used with other applications.

    For details about how to import the business card data, refer to the manual of the application that you use.

  • When a new item is added to the content information, it will be added to the end of the information in a CSV file format without the order of existing items being changed. When using the CSV file in other applications, take appropriate measures so that new items do not cause any problems.

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    Click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

  2. In the Content Data Record List View, select a content data record with business card data that you want to export.

    If you export business card data in content data records created from multiple business cards that you scanned, select the content data records while holding down the [command command] key or [Shift] key.

  3. Select a file format in which business card data is exported.

    In the menu that appears when you click the content data record while holding down the [control] key on the keyboard, click [Export] → [Output business card information] and select one of the following:

    • CSV.(Comma delimited) (*.csv)

    • Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt)

    • vCard (*.vcf)

    • ContactXML (*.xml)

  4. In the window for saving business card data, specify a save destination and a file name and click the [Save] button.

The business card data is exported in the specified file format.

HINT
  • The exported business card data can be imported and used with other applications.
