Connecting an Additional ScanSnap Unit to a Computer

When Connecting the ScanSnap and a Computer with a USB Cable

Connect the supplied USB cable to the USB connector on the ScanSnap and the USB port on a computer, and open the ADF paper chute (cover) to turn on the ScanSnap.

Connect the supplied USB cable to the USB connector on the ScanSnap and the USB port on a computer, and open the feed guide to turn on the ScanSnap.

The ScanSnap is registered with ScanSnap Home and you can perform a scan.

When Connecting the ScanSnap and a Computer via Wi-Fi

1. Connect the ScanSnap to a wireless access point.

   For details, refer to Connecting the ScanSnap and the Computer Via a Specified Wireless Access Point.

2. Click the [Scan] button at the top of the Main Window of ScanSnap Home to display the Scan Window.

   Windows

   If the main window is not already displayed, refer to To Display the Main Window.

   Mac OS

   If the main window is not already displayed, click the [ScanSnap Home] icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

    

3. Select [Add a ScanSnap] from the [Select a scanner] list.

4. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window, select the ScanSnap model to be connected and then click the [Start setup] button.

5. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Connection with the ScanSnap), select the scanner name of the ScanSnap to be connected, and click the [Next] button.

   HINT

   • When an IP address is set for the ScanSnap, you can connect the ScanSnap to a computer by specifying the IP address.

   • Specify the IP address for the ScanSnap to be connected in the window that appears when you click [Using an IP address].

6. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Connection is complete) appears, click the [Next] button.

7. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Let's use it!) appears, check the contents and click the [Close] button.

The ScanSnap is registered with ScanSnap Home and you can perform a scan.

When Connecting the ScanSnap and a Computer via Wi-Fi

• When you can connect a USB cable to a computer

  Use ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool to connect the ScanSnap and a computer via Wi-Fi

• When you cannot connect a USB cable to a computer

  1. Click the [Scan] button at the top of the Main Window of ScanSnap Home to display the Scan Window.

     Windows

     If the main window is not already displayed, refer to To Display the Main Window.

     Mac OS

     If the main window is not already displayed, click in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

      

  2. Select [Add a ScanSnap] from the [Select a scanner] list.

  3. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window, select the ScanSnap model to be connected and then click the [Start setup] button.

  4. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Connect the ScanSnap to your computer) is displayed, click [Setup without the USB cable].

  5. When the [ScanSnap Wireless Network Setup] window appears, follow the instructions on the window to connect the ScanSnap and a computer via Wi-Fi.

  6. When "The wireless network settings for the ScanSnap (Access point connection) have been configured." is displayed in the [ScanSnap Wireless Network Setup] window, click the [Finish] button.

  7. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Select a startup mode.) appears, select a startup mode and click the [Next] button.

  8. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Connection is complete) appears, click the [Next] button.

  9. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Let's use it!) appears, check the contents and click the [Close] button.

  The ScanSnap is registered with ScanSnap Home and you can perform a scan.

  Windows

  • You can also connect the ScanSnap by clicking the [Add] button under [Scanner information] in the [Scanner] tab of the preferences window.

    To display the preferences window, select [Settings] → [Preferences] from the menu.

  Mac OS

  • You can also connect the ScanSnap by clicking the [Add] button under [Scanner information] in the [Scanner] tab of the preferences window.

    To display the preferences window, select [ScanSnap Home] → [Preferences] in the menu bar.
