Scanned Images Are Not Merged Automatically
When scanning with the ScanSnap, if scanned images are not merged automatically, check the following:
Did you scan a document folded in half whose paper size is A3, B4, or double letter size in a double-page spread?
Scanned images are merged automatically only when the paper size of the document folded in half is A3, B4, or Double Letter size in a double-page spread.
Perform one of the following:
Use the page merge function in ScanSnap Home to merge the scanned images. For details, refer to Creating a Double-Page Spread Image by Merging Two Pages or Creating a Double-Page Spread Image by Merging Two Scanned Images (Mac OS).
Use the optional Carrier Sheet, and try scanning again.
For details, refer to Scanning Documents Larger than A4 or Letter Size (with the Carrier Sheet).
Are there any characters, figures, or tables on the fold line of the document folded in half?
Scanned images are merged automatically only when there are characters, figures, or tables on the fold line of the document folded in half.
Documents whose scanned images are merged automatically
Documents whose scanned images are not merged automatically
Perform one of the following:
Use the page merge function in ScanSnap Home to merge the scanned images. For details, refer to Creating a Double-Page Spread Image by Merging Two Pages or Creating a Double-Page Spread Image by Merging Two Scanned Images (Mac OS).
Use the optional Carrier Sheet, and try scanning again.

Have you selected the [Merge both sides of an image] checkbox in the scan settings?
If you are performing a scan using a profile other than the profile that is linked with a cloud service by using ScanSnap Cloud, select the [Merge both sides of an image] checkbox in the following procedure, and then try scanning again.
Try scanning again after selecting the [Merge both sides of an image] checkbox by following the procedure below:

Click the [Scan] button at the top of the main window of ScanSnap Home to display the scan window.
If the main window is not already displayed, refer to To Display the Main Window.
Select the profile that you are using from the profile list.
Click to display the [Edit profiles] window.

Click the [Option] button for [Feed] to display the [Feed option] window.
Click the [Option] button for [Manual Feeder] in [Feed mode setting] to display the [Feed option] window.
Select [Manual scan] for [Feed].
Select the [Merge both sides of an image] checkbox.

Click the [Scan] button at the top of the main window of ScanSnap Home to display the scan window.
If the main window is not already displayed, click the [ScanSnap Home] icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.
Select the profile that you are using from the profile list.
Click to display the [Edit profiles] window.

Click the [Option] button for [Feed] to display the [Feed option] window.
Click the [Option] button for [Manual Feeder] in [Feed mode setting] to display the [Feed option] window.
Select [Manual scan] for [Feed].
Select the [Merge both sides of an image] checkbox.
Have you selected [Simplex] in the scan settings?
Try scanning again after changing the scanning side to [Duplex] by following the procedure below:
On the touch panel of the ScanSnap, select the profile that you are using from the profile list in the home screen.
Press the scanning side setting icon and change the scanning side to [Duplex].
If you change the scan settings on the touch panel and scan a document, after it is scanned, the scan settings will return back to the settings before any changes are made. If you want to scan documents under the same settings all the time, the scan settings need to be saved as a profile.
Are you performing a scan with a document inserted into the manual feeder?
Scanned images are merged automatically only when a document is inserted into the manual feeder and scanned.
Insert a document into the manual feeder and perform a scan.
