Displayed Screens on the Touch Panel
The screens displayed on the touch panel of the ScanSnap are either the home screen to start scanning or the [Settings] screen to check or modify the settings of the ScanSnap.
This section explains the following screens:
The screenshots shown are examples of when the ScanSnap iX1600 is connected. When the ScanSnap iX1600 Receipt Edition is connected, the displayed information will be slightly different.
Home screen
The home screen is the screen in which you can select a profile and start scanning a document.
The settings for a profile can be modified or added in the Scan Window of ScanSnap Home.

Displays the [Selecting a User] screen.
In the [Selecting a User] screen, user names of the computers that have been connected to the ScanSnap before are displayed in the list. Selecting a user name in the list will switch the computer connected to the ScanSnap.
A user icon is displayed in the following cases:
The following settings are selected in the [Settings] screen on the touch panel.
[Selected user] for [Display of profiles] in the [Scanner settings] screen
[Access point connection] or [Direct connection] for [Wi-Fi connect mode] in the [Wi-Fi settings] screen
Two or more history records of computers that have been connected to the ScanSnap before exist

Displays the user name of the computer that is connected to the ScanSnap.
A user name is displayed in the following cases:
The following settings are selected in the [Settings] screen on the touch panel.
[Selected user] for [Display of profiles] in the [Scanner settings] screen
[Access point connection] or [Direct connection] for [Wi-Fi connect mode] in the [Wi-Fi settings] screen
Two or more history records of computers that have been connected to the ScanSnap before exist
HINTIf a user name contains machine dependent characters, they may become garbled.

- Connection status (

Displays the connection statuses of the ScanSnap.
Displays the signal status between a wireless access point and the ScanSnap in four levels.
When the ScanSnap is searching for a wireless access point or is not connected to a wireless access point,
appears.
Appears when the ScanSnap and the computer are connected via a USB cable.
Appears when the Wi-Fi connect mode for the ScanSnap is set to Direct Connect mode which connects the scanner and the computer via Wi-Fi without a wireless access point.
If you are in an environment where you cannot establish a connection to a wireless access point, the ScanSnap and the computer or mobile device can be connected directly via Wi-Fi.
The [Settings] screen appears. You can specify the settings for the ScanSnap.

- Profile list (
)
Displays the profiles. Select a profile to be used from this list.
Displays up to 30 profiles.
Run your finger over the profile list horizontally to scroll through the profiles. A scroll bar appears under the profile list while you are scrolling through the profiles.
Press the selected profile to display the following information on the [Scan] button:
Description of the profile
Name of the user who created the profile
The information above is displayed when [All users] is set for [Display of profiles] in the [Scanner settings] screen that can be displayed after displaying the [Settings] screen on the touch panel.
The profiles provided in ScanSnap Home by default vary depending on the region where the ScanSnap is used or the model used (ScanSnap iX1600/ScanSnap iX1600 Receipt Edition). For details, refer to What is a Profile?.

HINTProfiles displayed in the profile list can be switched between profiles created only with a computer that is using the ScanSnap and profiles created with all computers that have been connected to the ScanSnap before.

Switches the display of the profile list.
Displays a profile name of the selected profile in the profile list.
By pressing the displayed profile name, the following information is displayed:
Description of the profile
Name of the user who created the profile
The information above is displayed when [All users] is set for [Display of profiles] in the [Scanner settings] screen that can be displayed after displaying the [Settings] screen on the touch panel.
- Section to display and modify the scan settings (

Displays the scan settings for the selected profile. Press each icon to display the scan settings screen where you can change the scan settings temporarily. Scanning a document will return the scan settings back to the settings before any changes are made.
If you want to scan documents under the same settings all the time, change the scan settings for a profile in the [Edit profiles] Window screen of ScanSnap Home.
The following scan settings can be changed on the touch panel.
- Color mode setting

Select a color mode for scanned images.

Automatically detects the color of each document and scans in color, gray, or black and white.
Color
Always saves the scanned image in color.
Gray
Always saves the scanned image in gray.
B & W
Always saves the scanned image in black and white.
Suitable for scanning black and white documents that only contain text.
- Scanning side setting

Select a scanning side for documents.

- Image quality setting

Select an image quality level (resolution) for scanned images.
Scanning speeds vary depending on the image quality.

The image quality is determined based on the length of the short side of the document.
When the short side is longer than 115 mm: Better

A scan is performed at a resolution of 150 dpi when [Color mode setting] is set to color or gray, and 300 dpi when it is set to black and white.
Better
A scan is performed at a resolution of 200 dpi when [Color mode setting] is set to [Color] or [Gray], and 400 dpi when it is set to black and white.
Best
A scan is performed at a resolution of 300 dpi when [Color mode setting] is set to [Color] or [Gray], and 600 dpi when it is set to black and white.
Excellent
A scan is performed at a resolution of 600 dpi when [Color mode setting] is set to color or gray, and 1200 dpi when it is set to black and white.
Selecting [Excellent] may slow down the speed of scanning documents depending on your system environment.
This is not displayed when a profile that is linked with a cloud service by using ScanSnap Cloud is selected.

- Feed mode setting

Select a feeding method for scanning documents.

Normal scan
Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents loaded in the ScanSnap are scanned.
Continuous scan
Scanning documents continues until the [Finish] button is pressed.
You can scan a large number of documents in a single scan.
Manual scan
Automatically scans documents loaded one sheet at a time in the ScanSnap until the [Finish] button is pressed.
Scan with [Manual scan] for documents that have overlapping areas, long page documents, or thick documents, such as the following documents:
Documents folded in half
Envelopes
Documents with sticky notes attached
Multi-layered documents such as transfer paper
Long page documents such as long receipts
Plastic cards
- [Scan] button
Starts scanning.
When
is displayed on the [Scan] button, scanning does not start. Follow the message that is displayed when you press
to solve the problem.
[Settings] screen
The [Settings] screen is the screen in which you can check the ScanSnap, Wi-Fi, and maintenance information, and specify settings.
Returns to the home screen.
Displays the [Maintenance] screen.
The following operations can be performed in the [Maintenance] screen.
Specifying the setting to notify you when the scanner detects dirt on the glass which causes vertical streaks on scanned images
Checking when to replace consumables
Starting the cleaning operation for the feed rollers and eject rollers
Updating the firmware to a newer version

[Notify when the latest is available] checkbox setting in the [Update firmware] of the [Maintenance] screen
[Notify when glass is dirty] checkbox setting in the [Dust detection] of the [Maintenance] screen
Displays the [Wi-Fi settings] screen.
The following operations can be performed in the [Wi-Fi settings] screen.
Switching the Wi-Fi connect mode for connecting the ScanSnap to a computer or mobile device
Modifying the settings for each connect mode
Checking the information such as the Wi-Fi connection status and the signal strength
Modifying the settings for using a network folder
NTP server settings
Enabling use of the SMB 1.0/CIFS network server
Resetting the Wi-Fi settings that are configured for the ScanSnap.
When there is a device with the same IP address as that of the ScanSnap on the network,

Shows the following information which is necessary for connecting the scanner to a new computer or a new mobile device.

The displayed information varies depending on the connection method for the ScanSnap.
