Reconnecting the ScanSnap and a Computer by Specifying the IP Address of the ScanSnap

Specify the IP address of the ScanSnap to reconnect the ScanSnap and a computer.

For details about how to check the IP address that is set for the ScanSnap, refer to Checking the IP address of the ScanSnap.

  1. Set the Wi-Fi connect mode for the ScanSnap.

    If it has already been set, go to step 2.

    1. Press Settings in the home screen on the touch panel of the ScanSnap to display the [Settings] screen.
    2. Press Wi-Fi settings to display the [Wi-Fi settings] screen.
    3. Press [Wi-Fi connect mode] to display the [Wi-Fi connect mode] screen.
    4. Select [Access point connection] or [Direct connection].
    5. Press Home to return to the home screen.
  2. Specify the IP address to reconnect the ScanSnap and the computer in one of the following methods:
    • When you know the name of the scanner that you want to reconnect to the computer

      1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

        For details, refer to To Display the Main Window.

      2. Select [Settings] in the menu → [Preferences] to display the preferences window.

      3. Select a ScanSnap unit to establish a connection from the list of ScanSnap units under [Scanner information] in the [Scanner] tab and click the [Connect via an IP address] button to display the [Connect via an IP address] window.

        HINT
        • The [Scanner] tab can be displayed from the ScanSnap Home menu which appears when you right-click the ScanSnap Home icon in the notification area of the taskbar.

      4. Specify an IP address and click the [OK] button.

      5. When a message appears informing you that the connection is complete, click the [OK] button.

    • When you do not know the name of the scanner that you want to reconnect to the computer

      1. Click the [Scan] button at the top of the Main Window of ScanSnap Home to display the Scan Window.

        If the main window is not already displayed, refer to To Display the Main Window.

      2. Select [Add a ScanSnap] from the [Select a scanner] list.

      3. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window, select the ScanSnap model to be connected and then click the [Start setup] button.

      4. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Connect the ScanSnap to your computer), click [Setup without the USB cable].

      5. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (The ScanSnap will be connected to a wireless access point), click the [Next] button.

      6. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Search for the ScanSnap you want and connect it), click [Specify an IP address and connect to the ScanSnap].

      7. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Specify an IP address and connect to the ScanSnap), specify an IP address and click the [Next] button.

      8. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Connection is complete) appears, click the [Next] button.

      9. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Let's use it!) appears, check the contents and click the [Close] button.

The ScanSnap and the computer are connected.

  1. Set the Wi-Fi connect mode for the ScanSnap.

    If it has already been set, go to step 2.

    1. Press Settings in the home screen on the touch panel of the ScanSnap to display the [Settings] screen.
    2. Press Wi-Fi settings to display the [Wi-Fi settings] screen.
    3. Press [Wi-Fi connect mode] to display the [Wi-Fi connect mode] screen.
    4. Select [Access point connection] or [Direct connection].
    5. Press Home to return to the home screen.
  2. Specify the IP address to reconnect the ScanSnap and the computer in one of the following methods:
    • When you know the name of the scanner that you want to reconnect to the computer

      1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

        Click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

      2. Select [ScanSnap Home] on the menu bar → [Preferences] to display the preferences window.

      3. Select a ScanSnap unit to establish a connection from the list of ScanSnap units under [Scanner information] in the [Scanner] tab and click the [Connect via an IP address] button to display the [Connect via an IP address] window.

        HINT
        • The [Scanner] tab can be displayed from the ScanSnap Home menu which appears when you click the ScanSnap Home icon in the menu bar.

      4. Specify an IP address and click the [OK] button.

      5. When a message appears informing you that the connection is complete, click the [OK] button.

    • When you do not know the name of the scanner that you want to reconnect to the computer

      1. Click the [Scan] button at the top of the Main Window of ScanSnap Home to display the Scan Window.

        If the main window is not already displayed, click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

      2. Select [Add a ScanSnap] from the [Select a scanner] list.

      3. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window, select the ScanSnap model to be connected and then click the [Start setup] button.

      4. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Connect the ScanSnap to your computer), click [Setup without the USB cable].

      5. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (The ScanSnap will be connected to a wireless access point), click the [Next] button.

      6. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Search for the ScanSnap you want and connect it), click [Specify an IP address and connect to the ScanSnap].

      7. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Specify an IP address and connect to the ScanSnap), specify an IP address and click the [Next] button.

      8. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Connection is complete) appears, click the [Next] button.

      9. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Let's use it!) appears, check the contents and click the [Close] button.

The ScanSnap and the computer are connected.
