Saving Images Created from Documents That You Scanned to a Folder

After checking images of the documents that you scanned with the ScanSnap, you can specify a file name and a folder as a save destination, and save the images.

Even a folder, which is not displayed in the folder list view in the Main Window of ScanSnap Home, can be specified as a save destination for scanned images.

The scanned images are saved as PDF files or JPEG files in the folder that you specified.

  1. Open the ADF paper chute (cover) of the ScanSnap to turn the power on. Hold the right side of the ADF paper chute (cover) of the ScanSnap then open it or press the [Scan] button to turn it on. Open the feed guide of the ScanSnap to turn the power on. Press the [Scan] button or [Stop] button on the ScanSnap to turn the power on.

    Open the ADF paper chute (cover) fully so that the [Scan] button lights up in blue.

    When the ADF paper chute (cover) is opened, the extension will rise automatically.

  2. Open the feed guide of the ScanSnap to turn the power on.

    HINT
    • If you want the document to be ejected from the front of the ScanSnap or when there is not enough space where the document exits the ScanSnap, open the output guide.

  3. Pull the stacker towards you.

  4. Pull out the extension and the stacker on the ADF paper chute (cover). Pull out the extension on the ADF paper chute (cover) and open the stacker. Pull out the extension.

  5. Place the Background Pad on the front side of the ScanSnap.

  6. Click the [Scan] button at the top of the Main Window of ScanSnap Home to display the Scan Window.

    If the main window is not already displayed, refer to To Display the Main Window.

    If the main window is not already displayed, click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

     

  7. In the Home screen on the touch panel, select [Scan to Folder] from the profile list. Select [Scan to Folder] from the profile list.
    HINT
    • When multiple users share one ScanSnap unit, make sure that a profile that was created with another computer is not selected.

      You can switch to the profile list which displays only profiles created with the computer that is using the ScanSnap.

    • If you want to modify the current profile in order to specify a folder to save a scanned image to after scanning a document, select [Scan to Folder] for [Send to] in the [Edit profiles] Window of ScanSnap Home.

      If you want to modify the current profile in order to specify a folder to save a scanned image to after scanning a document, select [Scan to Folder] for [Send to] in the [Edit profiles] Window.

    • If [Scan to Folder] is not displayed in the profile list, create a new profile in ScanSnap Home. When you create a profile, select [Scan to Folder] for a template profile.

  8. Load documents in the ADF paper chute (cover) of the ScanSnap. Load documents in the ADF paper chute (cover) or insert a document into the manual feeder. Insert a document straight into the feeding section of the ScanSnap, with the scanning side facing up. Place documents in the scan area of the ScanSnap.

    Load a document face-down and head-first with the back facing you (when loading multiple documents, the last page is on the top). Adjust the number of documents so that they do not go beyond Mark That Indicates the Maximum Number of Documents to Be Loaded within the side guides when they are loaded.

    Make sure that the document is fed into the ScanSnap and is held firmly.

    • When scanning documents all at once (U-turn Scan)

      Load the documents in the ADF paper chute (cover), and align the side guides with both ends of the documents.

      Load the document face-up and head-first with the front facing you (when loading multiple documents, the first page is on the top).

      ATTENTION
      • Make sure that the document support tab is open.

        Otherwise, a paper jam may occur.

        If the document support tab is closed, pull it up with your fingers.

      • If the document support tab comes off, contact the distributor/dealer where you purchased this product.

    • When scanning documents one by one (Return Scan)

      Insert a document into the manual feeder.

      Face the front side of a document upwards and insert the top end of the document straight into the middle of the manual feeder.

      Make sure that the document is fed into the ScanSnap and is held firmly.

      ATTENTION
      • The document comes out from the back of the ScanSnap during the scan.

        Leave space (about the length of the document) at the back of the ScanSnap.

      • You can scan a document with the ADF paper chute (cover) closed.

  9. Align the side guides with both ends of the documents.

    Hold each side guide in the middle to adjust them. Otherwise, the documents may be fed skewed.

  10. Press the [Scan] button in the home screen on the touch panel to scan the documents. Press the [Scan] button to scan the document. Press the [Scan] button to scan the documents. Press the [Scan/Stop] button to start scanning the document. Press the [Scan] button to start scanning the document.

    After scanning is complete, if the message "Load the next document." is displayed, you can continue scanning.

    To finish scanning, click the [Finish Scanning] button or press the [Scan] button on the ScanSnap.

    To continue scanning, insert the next document to be scanned. When the document is inserted, scanning starts automatically.

    To continue scanning, place the next document to be scanned and press the [Scan] button.

    ATTENTION
    • Do not cover the white sheets on the ScanSnap with your hands or with something else while scanning documents. The color reproducibility of the scanned image will be affected.

    • Do not shake the table or desk when the ScanSnap is being used or move the documents while they are being scanned. Doing so may distort the scanned image or blur the color.

  11. Press the [Scan/Stop] button to finish scanning documents.
  12. Press the [Stop] button to finish scanning documents.
  13. Select a method to save scanned images in the [ScanSnap Home - Image scanning and file saving] window of ScanSnap Home.

    Select [Crop and save flat document images as-is] and then click the [Save this image] button.

    Select [Flat] and then click the [Save this image] button.

     

    HINT
    • Click the [Check/Correct] button in the [ScanSnap Home - Image scanning and file saving] window to correct the scanned image.

  14. Specify a title and a save destination for the content data record when the [Scan to Folder] Window of ScanSnap Home is displayed. Specify a title and a save destination for the content data record when the [Scan to Folder] Window of ScanSnap Home is displayed.

    If Title suggestions is displayed next to the input field for [Specify a title] or [Specify destination folder], you can select a title or save destination from the list that appears when you click Title suggestions.

    HINT
    • In the [Scan to Folder] window, you can change the orientation of pages, remove unnecessary pages, or display the viewer window of ScanSnap Home to edit an image before saving it.

    • The default folder displayed in [Specify destination folder] is the folder that you specified for [Save to] in the [Edit profiles] window.

    • When a folder that is not managed in ScanSnap Home is specified for the save destination for scanned images, content data records created from documents that you scanned are not displayed in the Content Data Record List View in the main window.

    • In the [Scan to Folder] window, you can change the orientation of pages or remove unnecessary pages.

  15. Click the [Save] button.

The images created from the document that you scanned are saved in the folder that you specified.

When you specify a folder that is managed in ScanSnap Home for the save destination, the saved image can be checked in the content data record list view in the main window of ScanSnap Home.

HINT
  • To not display content data records created from a document that you scanned, in the content data record list view in the main window of ScanSnap Home, select the following setting for [Type] in [Managing options] in the [Edit profiles] window.

    PC (Scan to file)

    Mac (Scan to file)

     

  • If you always save images created from the documents that you scanned in the same folder, specify a folder to save the scanned images for [Save to] in the [Edit profiles] window, and select [None (Scan to file)] for [Send to].

  • You can receive a notification on your computer about the document type for the content data records and the save destination for the scanned images after the scanning of documents is complete.
